Danger of Creation?

God, I'm almost ashamed to write -- been too long. Shame on me to think anybody would read this shit, and if they did, that they would care. Anyway, gotta do something, I suppose --

Anybody out there an actor? I don't mean a lover of theatre, or a class-clown, or family reuinion cut-up; I mean an artist of the art of acting. Observer of human behavior, creator of new identity? An actor -- anybody? anybody? Yeah, me too. If you get a chance, look into Choice Theory by William Glassner. Great book on control, and how not to be. This guy even invented a very popular form of therapy called "Reality Therapy". Neat name, huh? I don't know anybody who couldn't use a bit more of THAT kind of therapy.

In his book, Mr. Glassner talks about the dangers of the creative functions of your brain, and how they are only out to protect us, and sometimes go too far. Ever convinced yourself something didn't happen, or that somebody didn't say something they said because thinking about it was too painful? If so, you've experienced a small taste of what Glassner is talking about. How about us actors, though? Overly developed sense of imagination and it's ability to shape realtiy? I have found myself acting a certain "role" in a social situation to get an outcome I want because I wanted to see if I could manipulate the situation. What's wrong with that you say? Salespeople do it all the time? Maybe, but what if you don't know who you are when you stop acting? When the role's over? Anybody know what I'm talking about? Anybody?
